Costa Blanca North
Moraira is an attractive, upmarket Spanish coastal town. It is part of the Teulada municipality (also known as Teulada-Moraira), in the Marina Alta area, 80 km north of Alicante and 100 km south of Valencia. It is an exclusive tourist resort to the north of the Costa Blanca, which boasts 8 km of coastline.
The permanent population of Moraira is around 10,000, although this rises to 36,000 in the summer. There are a large number of expatriates living here on a permanent basis, and the area is very popular with affluent retired people, especially the British. The majority of visitors to Moraira are Spanish, British, German, Dutch, and French.
Moraira’s historic role as a fishing village is still in evidence. It´s fish market is one of the most popular in the Costa Blanca region and the port has five operational fishing boats. The region is also famous as a grower of Muscatel grapes for winemaking.
Moraira is also a culinary and gastronomic tourism destination, with many superb restaurants. Moraira has three sandy beaches which are popular with families, and many rocky coves and inlets which are frequented by snorkelers and scuba divers.
